As men age, the prostate may cause trouble in two ways. First, the organ may enlarge, constricting the urethra leading to a slowing of the urine flow and increased urinary frequency, especially at night. Second, cells within the prostate may begin to grow abnormally and develop an ability to spread out of the prostate and invade other tissues. This is known as prostate cancer.
