Ovarian

Ovarian surgery may be necessary to diagnose problems such as ovarian cysts, adhesions, fibroids, pelvic infection and ovarian cancer.

During surgery, surgeons can remove a noncancerous cyst or growth, leaving the ovary intact. In some cases, the entire ovary or both ovaries are removed, particularly when cancer is present.

The enhanced 3-dimensional visualization and control available with the da Vinci™ Surgical System enables surgeons to reach the ovaries using tiny incisions, rather than the large incision used in open surgery.

Robotic technology provides surgeons with a superior tool to remove cysts (and ovaries, if necessary) with greater precision than open or other minimally invasive approaches.
