Overview
Prostate Cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in North American men and the second most frequent cause of death due to cancer.

The American Cancer Society estimates that there will be more than 200,000 new cases of prostate cancer in the United States annually, and nearly than 30,000 succumbed to the disease.

The good news is that while some controversy still exists regarding the value of early detection programs, the vast majority of men are now diagnosed when the cancer is still confined to the prostate.

Prostate Cancer Mortality Rates
The American Urological Association (AUA) recommends an annual digital rectal examination (DRE) and serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) for all men beginning at age 50, and as young as 40 for men at higher risk.

The American Cancer Society (ACS) recommends discussing the pros and cons of prostate cancer testing with one’s physician.
