Prevention
While a complete review of preventative measures is beyond the scope of this discussion studies have shown that there may be some benefit to modifying a man’s diet and lifestyle.

The following section may serve as a useful guide -- before making any significant changes, however, we recommend that a man consult with his physician.

Eat Right And Exercise Regularly To Decrease Prostate Cancer Risk

1) 8-10 fruit or vegetable servings per day:

  • 2-3 pieces of fruit and
  • 1 cup vegetable with lunch and dinner and
  • 12 oz. of tomato-based juice

2) 25-30 grams of fiber per day:

  • 1 serving of beans/legumes or 2 servings of whole grain
  • Eat bread with first ingredient whole or sprouted grain

3) Reduce excessive calorie intake

4) Choose good fats:

  • Flaxseed (1-2 tbs.), walnuts (1 oz.), olive/canola oil (1/2-1 cup), avocado, or soy (1/2 cup beans, 4 oz. tofu, or 8oz. soy milk)
  • Cold water fish 3 times per week (omega 3 fatty acids)

5) 400-800 IU Vitamin D per day:

  • 10-15 minutes of sun...
